Begin your journey with a morning pick-up from your hotel in Chennai at either 5:00 AM for an early birding experience or 12:30 PM for a relaxed afternoon excursion. Drive to Pulicat Bird Sanctuary, covering approximately 60 km in about 1.5 to 2 hours, enjoying scenic rural landscapes along the way. Upon arrival, begin a guided bird watching and nature walk through the sanctuary’s rich ecosystem, including mudflats, lagoons, and mangrove patches. Spot a variety of migratory and resident birds such as flamingos, pelicans, herons, and storks, while your guide explains their behavior and ecological importance.
Continue with a serene boat safari on Pulicat Lake, offering closer views of birdlife and a glimpse into the traditional fishing practices of local communities. The calm waters and natural surroundings provide excellent opportunities for photography and relaxation. After the safari, proceed for a lunch break at a local eatery (if included), where you may enjoy simple regional cuisine.
