Delhi to Amritsar and Dharamsala
This thoughtfully designed journey begins in Delhi and takes you to the vibrant city of Amritsar, where Sikh traditions, sacred shrines, and historical landmarks create a deeply enriching experience. Visit the Golden Temple, Jallianwala Bagh, Durgiana Temple, and Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, while also witnessing the energetic Wagah Border ceremony. Continue onward to Dharamshala, a peaceful mountain destination surrounded by cedar forests and snow-clad peaks. Explore McLeodganj, monasteries, Bhagsunag Temple, Bhagsu Waterfall, and Dal Lake while enjoying the Tibetan influence that defines this region. The tour concludes with a flight back to Delhi, leaving you with memorable encounters of faith, culture, and Himalayan serenity.
Day 1: Delhi to Amritsar by Train
Begin your journey with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Delhi and transfer to the railway station to board the Swarna Shatabdi Express to Amritsar. Enjoy a comfortable train journey through the plains of North India as you make your way to one of the country’s most important spiritual cities. Upon arrival in Amritsar, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel for check-in and refreshment. In the afternoon, proceed for the Wagah Border ceremony, where the coordinated flag-lowering ritual between India and Pakistan creates an unforgettable patriotic atmosphere. Witness the lively crowd, disciplined drills, and electric energy of the ceremony. Later, return to your hotel and relax after an exciting first day. Overnight at hotel in Amritsar.
Day 2: Amritsar City Tour and Drive to Dharamsala (210 km / 5 hrs drive)
After breakfast at the hotel, begin the city tour of Amritsar with a visit to the magnificent Golden Temple, the holiest shrine of Sikhism. Experience the serene atmosphere of the sacred sarovar and the remarkable community kitchen, Guru Ka Langar, where thousands are served every day with equality and devotion. Continue to the Central Sikh Museum and the historic Clock Tower area to learn more about Sikh history and traditions. Visit Durgiana Temple, often called the Silver Temple, and later explore Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum, which preserves the legacy of the Sikh Empire. After sightseeing, drive to Dharamsala, a scenic Himalayan destination known for its Tibetan culture and peaceful surroundings. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure. Day 3: Dharamsala Sightseeing
After breakfast at the hotel, begin your exploration of Dharamsala and McLeodganj, also known as Little Lhasa. Visit the Tibetan monastery and the Namgyal Monastery, which is closely associated with the Dalai Lama and Tibetan spiritual life. Walk through the peaceful surroundings and spin the prayer wheels while taking in the Buddhist ambiance. Continue to Bhagsunag Temple, a revered shrine set amidst beautiful hills, and then visit Bhagsu Waterfall, a refreshing natural spot ideal for relaxation and photography. Proceed to Dal Lake, surrounded by deodar trees and known for its serene atmosphere, and visit the nearby Durgeshwara Mahadev Temple. Later, explore the Church of St. John in the Wilderness, a striking neo-Gothic church tucked inside the forest. Return to your hotel in the evening after a peaceful and enriching day. Day 4: Dharamsala to Delhi by Flight
After breakfast at the hotel, check out and transfer to Dharamsala airport for your flight back to Delhi. Enjoy the aerial views of the mountains as you leave the calm Himalayan landscape behind and return to the capital city. Upon arrival in Delhi, our representative will assist with your transfer to your hotel or airport for your onward journey. The tour concludes with wonderful memories of Amritsar’s spiritual heritage and Dharamsala’s Himalayan tranquility.
