Starting from Hyderabad, the tour takes you to Bijapur, where the grandeur of Indo-Islamic architecture from the Adil Shahi dynasty comes alive through monumental structures like Gol Gumbaz and Ibrahim Rauza. The journey continues to Badami, the former capital of the Chalukyas, where ancient cave temples carved into red sandstone cliffs showcase early temple architecture. Excursions to Aihole and Pattadakal reveal the evolution of temple design in India, with Pattadakal being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With scenic drives, expert-guided visits, and comfortable stays, this tour presents a seamless blend of heritage, history, and culture in a compact itinerary.

 

Day 1: Hyderabad – Bijapur (385 kms | approx. 7–8 hrs drive)

After breakfast at your hotel, begin your drive from Hyderabad towards Bijapur, traversing the scenic landscapes of the Deccan Plateau. En route, stop at Kalaburagi to explore its historic attractions. Visit Gulbarga Fort, a massive 15th-century structure known for its strong fortifications and Indo-Islamic design.

Continue to Jama Masjid, inspired by the Great Mosque of Cordoba, followed by a visit to the revered Sharana Basaveshwara Temple, an important pilgrimage site reflecting intricate Dravidian craftsmanship. You will also visit the dargah of the Sufi saint Khwaja Bande Nawaz, a spiritual center showcasing Persian and Indo-Islamic architecture.

After sightseeing, proceed towards Bijapur. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and relax. Evening at leisure. Overnight at hotel.


Day 2: Bijapur – Badami (120 kms | approx. 3 hrs drive)

After breakfast, begin your exploration of Bijapur, once a flourishing capital under the Adil Shahi rulers. Visit the magnificent Gol Gumbaz, famous for its massive dome and unique whispering gallery. Continue to Bijapur Fort, which houses several architectural masterpieces including Asar Mahal (Hall of Justice), Bara Kaman (unfinished mausoleum), Jama Masjid, and Mehtar Mahal.

Admire the imposing Malik-e-Maidan, one of the largest medieval cannons in the world, and visit the elegant Ibrahim Rauza, often regarded as one of the most beautiful Islamic monuments in India.

Later, drive to Badami, a historic town known for its rock-cut cave temples. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and relax. Evening free to explore local markets or enjoy the serene surroundings. Overnight at hotel.


Day 3: Badami – Aihole – Pattadakal – Badami

After breakfast, embark on a full-day excursion to explore the ancient Chalukyan sites. Begin with Aihole, often referred to as the “cradle of Indian temple architecture,” featuring over 100 temples that showcase early experimentation in design and construction. Visit prominent temples such as Durga Temple, Lad Khan Temple, and Ravanaphadi Cave Temple, known for their unique architectural styles.

Proceed to Pattadakal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its beautifully preserved temple complexes that combine Dravidian and Nagara architectural styles. Visit Virupaksha Temple, Papanatha Temple, and Sangameshwara Temple, each reflecting artistic excellence and historical significance.

Return to Badami and explore the famous Badami Cave Temples, carved into red sandstone cliffs, depicting scenes from Hindu mythology. Visit Badami Fort and the scenic Agastya Lake, surrounded by temples and offering panoramic views of the landscape. Overnight at hotel.


Day 4: Badami – Hyderabad (380 kms | approx. 7–8 hrs drive)

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and begin your return journey to Hyderabad. Enjoy the scenic drive through rural Karnataka landscapes, dotted with fields, villages, and rocky terrain.

Upon arrival in Hyderabad, you will be dropped off at your hotel or airport, concluding your memorable journey through the historic and architectural wonders of the Deccan region.
