Learn about Jain philosophy, traditions, and architecture while enjoying scenic countryside views and a traditional vegetarian lunch. This tour offers a perfect balance of spirituality, heritage, and comfort within a well-paced day trip.
Your day begins with a comfortable pick-up from your hotel in Bangalore at around 8:00 AM, allowing for a relaxed start to your journey. Board your private vehicle and begin the drive to Shravanabelagola, covering approximately 150 km in 3–3.5 hours.
As you leave the city behind, enjoy the changing landscapes of Karnataka, with stretches of greenery, coconut groves, and rural villages offering a glimpse into local life. A short refreshment stop can be made en route for tea or breakfast (optional).
Upon arrival around 11:30 AM, begin your exploration with the ascent to the famous Gomateshwara Statue located atop Vindhyagiri Hill. Climb approximately 600–650 stone steps (barefoot, as per tradition), taking about 45–60 minutes at a comfortable pace.
At the summit, be rewarded with breathtaking views and the awe-inspiring sight of the 58-foot monolithic statue of Lord Bahubali, symbolizing renunciation, self-realization, and spiritual purity. Your guide will share fascinating insights into Jain philosophy, the history of the statue, and the significance of the Mahamastakabhisheka festival held here. Spend time admiring the artistry, serenity, and panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscape.
After descending, continue your visit to Chandragiri Hill, a smaller yet historically rich hill located nearby. A shorter and easier climb leads you to ancient Jain temples, memorials, and the revered Bhadrabahu Cave. Explore the tranquil surroundings while learning about Jain monks, royal patrons, and the site’s deep spiritual legacy.
By 2:00 PM, enjoy a traditional vegetarian lunch at a local restaurant, reflecting the simplicity and purity associated with Jain cuisine. Relax and refresh before beginning your return journey.
At around 3:00 PM, drive back to Bangalore, covering the same distance in approximately 3–3.5 hours. Sit back and unwind as you pass through the scenic countryside once again.
