Kochi to Goa - The Malabar Coast

Day 1: Arrival in Kochi

Upon arrival at Kochi International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel for check-in. After some relaxation, begin your city tour of Kochi, a historic port known for its colonial past and spice trade heritage. Visit Mattancherry Palace (Dutch Palace) featuring beautiful Kerala murals, followed by the Jewish Synagogue located in Jew Town. Continue to St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India, and stroll along the iconic Chinese Fishing Nets along the waterfront. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Kathakali dance performance showcasing Kerala’s classical art. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Kochi – Alleppey Backwater Excursion (55 km one way)

After breakfast, drive to Alleppey, famous for its serene backwaters. Board a traditional houseboat and begin a day cruise through canals, lagoons, and villages. Witness everyday life along the waterways as you pass paddy fields, coconut groves, and fishermen at work. Enjoy a freshly prepared Kerala-style lunch onboard while cruising peacefully through the scenic backwaters. Later in the afternoon, disembark and return to Kochi by road. Evening at leisure to relax after a tranquil experience. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Kochi – Kozhikode (190 km / approx. 5 hrs drive)

After breakfast, check out and drive north to Kozhikode, historically known as Calicut, a major spice trading hub. En route, visit Guruvayoor Temple, one of the most sacred Krishna temples in South India. Continue to Mammiyur Mahadeva Temple, an important Shiva temple often visited alongside Guruvayoor. Stop at Kappad Beach, where Vasco da Gama first landed in India in 1498. Upon arrival in Kozhikode, check in and later visit Kozhikode Beach to enjoy sunset views. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Kozhikode – Mangalore (250 km / approx. 6 hrs drive)

After breakfast, drive to Mangalore along the scenic coastal highway. En route, visit Thalassery Fort, built by the British East India Company, offering stunning coastal views. Continue to St. Angelo Fort, a Portuguese-era fort overlooking the Arabian Sea. Further ahead, explore Bekal Fort, one of the largest and best-preserved forts in Kerala. Upon arrival in Mangalore, check in and later visit Panambur Beach, known for its scenic beauty and sunset views. Overnight at hotel.

Day 5: Mangalore – Gokarna (240 km / approx. 5–6 hrs drive)

After breakfast, drive to Gokarna, a serene coastal town known for beaches and temples. En route, visit Udupi Sri Krishna Temple, a revered pilgrimage site famous for its unique worship style and architecture. Continue to Murdeshwar Temple, home to one of the tallest statues of Lord Shiva overlooking the Arabian Sea. Upon arrival in Gokarna, check-in at your hotel. Spend the evening relaxing at Om Beach, known for its distinctive shape and peaceful surroundings. Overnight at hotel.

Day 6: Gokarna – Goa (160 km / approx. 4 hrs drive)

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning exploring Gokarna’s beaches such as Kudle Beach or Om Beach. Later, drive to Goa, passing through scenic coastal landscapes and Western Ghats views. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and spend the evening at leisure. You may relax by the beach, explore nearby shacks, or enjoy Goan cuisine. Overnight at hotel.

Day 7: Goa Sightseeing

After breakfast, begin a full-day exploration of Goa’s heritage sites. Visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site housing the relics of St. Francis Xavier. Continue to Se Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Asia. Visit the Church of St. Francis of Assisi and later explore Panjim Market for local life and souvenirs. Walk through Fontainhas, Goa’s Latin Quarter, known for colorful Portuguese houses and charming streets. Overnight at hotel.

Day 8: Leisure Day in Goa

After breakfast, enjoy a free day to relax and explore Goa at your own pace. You may spend time at the beaches, indulge in water sports, or opt for a spice plantation tour to learn about local spices and enjoy a traditional Goan meal. Alternatively, explore cafes, markets, or relax at your resort. This day allows complete flexibility to unwind. Overnight at hotel.

Day 9: Departure from Goa

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to Goa Airport for your onward journey. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time for last-minute shopping or relaxation. Your memorable coastal journey concludes with beautiful experiences of the Malabar Coast.
