Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa – Acclimatization

Upon arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport or railway station, you will be warmly welcomed by your Tibetan guide and transferred to your hotel in the city (approx. 65 km / 1–1.5 hours drive). After check-in, the remainder of the day is reserved for acclimatization due to Lhasa’s high altitude (3,650 meters). Relax at the hotel, hydrate well, and avoid exertion to allow your body to adjust comfortably. You may take a gentle walk around the hotel area if you feel comfortable, soaking in your first glimpses of Tibetan life and mountain surroundings. This day is crucial to ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey ahead. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2: Lhasa City Tour – Spiritual & Cultural Exploration

After breakfast at the hotel, begin the city tour with a visit to the iconic Potala Palace. This architectural masterpiece towers above the city and houses sacred relics, murals, and former residences of the Dalai Lamas. Climb through its stairways and halls while enjoying panoramic views of Lhasa.

Later, visit the revered Jokhang Temple, the holiest site in Tibetan Buddhism, where pilgrims gather in devotion. Continue to Barkhor Street, a lively circular market surrounding the temple, filled with prayer wheels, incense, handicrafts, and traditional Tibetan culture.

Spend time observing pilgrims performing kora (circumambulation) and interacting with locals. Return to the hotel after a deeply enriching cultural day. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3: Drepung & Sera Monasteries

After breakfast, begin the day with a drive to Drepung Monastery (approx. 8 km / 30 minutes). Once the largest monastery in the world, it offers insight into monastic education, Tibetan history, and religious life. Explore its assembly halls, kitchens, and prayer chambers.

In the afternoon, proceed to Sera Monastery (approx. 5 km / 20 minutes). Here, witness the famous monk debates held in the courtyard, where philosophical discussions are expressed through animated gestures and dialogue.

The day provides a deeper understanding of Tibetan Buddhism, its teachings, and traditions. Return to your hotel in Lhasa. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Lhasa to Shigatse via Friendship Highway (Approx. 270 km / 6–7 hrs)

After breakfast, drive toward Shigatse along the scenic Friendship Highway. This journey is one of the most picturesque drives in Tibet, offering views of high mountain passes, vast plateaus, grazing yaks, and traditional villages.

En route, enjoy stops at viewpoints for photography and short breaks to admire the dramatic landscapes of the Tibetan plateau. Upon arrival in Shigatse, check into your hotel and visit the magnificent Tashilhunpo Monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lama. Explore its golden-roofed structures, prayer halls, and the towering Maitreya Buddha statue.

This day combines scenic travel with cultural immersion. Overnight at hotel.

Day 5: Shigatse to Everest Base Camp (Approx. 340 km / 7–8 hrs)

After breakfast, embark on a spectacular drive toward Everest Base Camp. The journey takes you across rugged terrain, high-altitude passes, and remote landscapes, offering stunning Himalayan panoramas.

As you approach the base camp (approx. 5,200 meters altitude), the mighty Mount Everest gradually comes into view. Spend time soaking in the breathtaking scenery, capturing photographs, and experiencing the profound silence and grandeur of the Himalayas.

This is the highlight of the tour—a truly unforgettable moment standing near the world’s highest peak. Overnight at basic guesthouse/camp near EBC.

Day 6: Everest Base Camp to Shigatse (Approx. 340 km / 7–8 hrs)

After an early morning experience at Everest Base Camp, begin your return journey to Shigatse. Enjoy different perspectives of the landscape as you retrace your route through the Tibetan plateau.
