Begin your journey with a pick-up from your hotel in Pune and drive towards Lonavala, enjoying a scenic route through the Western Ghats. The drive covers approximately 70 kilometers and takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, offering beautiful views of hills, valleys, and seasonal waterfalls.
Upon arrival, proceed to visit Karla Caves, located approximately 11 kilometers before Lonavala. These ancient Buddhist rock-cut caves date back to the 2nd century BC and are known for their grand chaitya hall, intricate carvings, and historical importance.
Continue to Bhaja Caves, situated a short distance away. These caves are among the oldest rock-cut caves in India and feature stupas, prayer halls, and impressive views of the surrounding landscape.
Later, proceed to Lonavala town for a lunch break at a local restaurant (direct payment basis), where you can enjoy regional cuisine in a pleasant hill station setting.
After lunch, drive to Lohagad Fort, located approximately 15 kilometers from Lonavala. Explore this historic hill fort known for its strong architecture and strategic importance during the Maratha Empire. The fort also offers scenic views of the Sahyadri ranges and nearby valleys.
Continue your journey to Kune Falls, situated in the Khandala region. This three-tiered waterfall is one of the most beautiful in the area, surrounded by lush greenery and offering a peaceful environment to relax and enjoy nature.
After completing the sightseeing, begin your drive back to Pune, covering approximately 70 kilometers in about 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arrival, you will be dropped at your hotel, marking the end of your day excursion.
