Begin in Delhi, exploring its Mughal and colonial landmarks, then travel to Amritsar to witness the divine ambiance of the Golden Temple and the patriotic Wagah Border ceremony. Continue to Dharamshala, home to Tibetan culture and the Dalai Lama, before heading to Shimla, known for its colonial heritage and scenic beauty. This journey offers a harmonious mix of cultural exploration, religious experiences, and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes.
Day 1: Arrive Delhi
Upon arrival at Delhi airport, you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to your hotel. After freshening up, begin the city tour of Old and New Delhi.
Begin the sightseeing with a visit to Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, followed by Raj Ghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Continue to Humayun’s Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and precursor to the Taj Mahal. Visit the towering Qutub Minar and the serene Lotus Temple, known for its unique lotus-shaped structure.
Drive past India Gate, President’s House, and Parliament House, gaining insights into India’s political and historical landscape. After a full day of exploration, return to your hotel. Overnight at hotel in Delhi.
Day 2: Delhi – Amritsar (By Train)
After early breakfast, transfer to the railway station to board the Swarna Shatabdi Express train to Amritsar (approx. 6 hours journey). Enjoy comfortable seating and onboard services.
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and check in. In the afternoon, proceed for an excursion to the Wagah Border to witness the famous Beating Retreat Ceremony, a vibrant and patriotic military ritual between India and Pakistan.
Return to your hotel in the evening. Overnight at hotel in Amritsar.
Day 3: Amritsar – Dharamsala (210 km / 5 hrs drive)
After breakfast, begin the city tour of Amritsar. Visit the sacred Golden Temple, the holiest shrine of Sikhism, known for its golden structure and spiritual serenity. Experience the community kitchen (Langar) and the peaceful ambiance around the holy Sarovar.
Continue to Jallianwala Bagh, a historic site commemorating the tragic massacre of 1919. Visit Durgiana Temple and Gobindgarh Fort, which showcases Punjab’s cultural heritage.
Later, drive to Dharamshala (approx. 210 km / 5 hours), nestled in the scenic Himalayas. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel. Overnight at hotel in Dharamsala.
Day 4: Dharamsala (McLeodganj Sightseeing)
After breakfast, begin the city tour of McLeodganj, the spiritual hub of Tibetan Buddhism. Visit Namgyal Monastery, the personal monastery of the Dalai Lama, offering insights into Tibetan culture and spirituality.
Proceed to Bhagsunag Temple and Bhagsu Waterfall, surrounded by lush greenery and scenic landscapes. Visit the Church of St. John in the Wilderness, a peaceful Gothic-style church set amidst deodar forests.
Spend time exploring local markets and cafes reflecting Tibetan influence. Return to your hotel. Overnight at hotel in Dharamsala.
Day 5: Dharamsala – Shimla (250 km / 7 hrs drive)
After breakfast, drive to Shimla (approx. 250 km / 7 hours), enjoying scenic Himalayan landscapes en route.
En route visit Jwala Devi Temple, famous for its eternal flame, and Kangra Fort, one of the oldest forts in India offering panoramic views of the valley.
Upon arrival in Shimla, check into your hotel. In the evening, take a leisurely walk along Mall Road and explore local markets. Overnight at hotel in Shimla.
Day 6: Shimla Sightseeing
After breakfast, begin the city tour of Shimla, once the summer capital of British India. Visit Jakhoo Temple, located on a hilltop and dedicated to Lord Hanuman, offering panoramic views of the city.
Continue to Christ Church, known for its neo-Gothic architecture and stained-glass windows. Visit the Viceregal Lodge (Indian Institute of Advanced Study), showcasing colonial grandeur and historical significance.
Explore The Ridge and Mall Road, vibrant areas filled with shops, cafés, and scenic viewpoints. Return to your hotel. Overnight at hotel in Shimla.
Day 7: Shimla – Delhi (350 km / 8 hrs drive)
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive back to Delhi (approx. 350 km / 8 hours).
Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the airport or your hotel for your onward journey, marking the end of your memorable “Temples and Hills” tour.
