Day 1: Arrival in Lhasa (3658m)

Upon arrival at Lhasa Gonggar Airport, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your hotel (approx. 98 km / 1.5 hours drive). As you ascend to high altitude, it is important to rest and allow your body to acclimatize. The rest of the day is kept free to relax, hydrate, and adjust to the elevation. Lhasa, known as the “City of Sunshine,” offers a serene introduction to Tibetan culture. Avoid heavy activity and enjoy light exploration around your hotel if comfortable. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.


Day 2: Lhasa City Tour

After breakfast, begin a full-day exploration of Lhasa’s iconic landmarks. Visit the majestic Potala Palace, the former winter residence of the Dalai Lama, showcasing Tibetan architecture and spiritual significance. Continue to Jokhang Temple, the holiest temple in Tibet, where pilgrims gather in devotion. Walk through Barkhor Street, a vibrant market and pilgrimage circuit filled with traditional crafts and local life. This day combines cultural immersion with gradual acclimatization. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.


Day 3: Lhasa Monasteries & Acclimatization

After breakfast, continue exploring Lhasa’s monastic heritage. Visit Drepung Monastery, once the largest monastery in Tibet and home to thousands of monks. Proceed to Sera Monastery, famous for its monk debates held in the courtyard. Also visit Nechung Monastery, historically known as the seat of the State Oracle. This additional day in Lhasa is crucial for proper acclimatization before heading toward higher altitudes. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.


Day 4: Lhasa – Yamdrok Lake – Gyantse – Shigatse (350 km / 7 hrs)

After breakfast, begin a spectacular drive across high Himalayan terrain. Cross scenic mountain passes such as Kamba La, offering breathtaking panoramic views. Stop at the stunning Yamdrok Lake, known for its turquoise waters surrounded by snow-capped peaks. Continue to Gyantse to visit Pelkor Monastery and the famous Kumbum Stupa. Later, drive onward to Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.


Day 5: Shigatse – Shegar (New Tingri) (240 km / 5 hrs)

After breakfast, visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama, featuring impressive statues and monastic halls. Later, drive towards Shegar, crossing scenic high passes with views of the Himalayan range. Optional visit to Sakya Monastery en route (time permitting), known for its unique architecture and ancient scriptures. Upon arrival in Shegar, explore the ruins of Shegar Dzong for panoramic mountain views. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.


Day 6: Shegar – Rongbuk – Everest Base Camp (100 km / 4 hrs)

After breakfast, drive through rugged terrain towards Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world. From here, enjoy your first breathtaking view of Mount Everest’s north face. Continue onward to Everest Base Camp, located at an altitude of approximately 5250 meters. You may either hike or take a local vehicle for the final stretch. The dramatic views of Everest and surrounding peaks create a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Dinner and overnight stay at guesthouse/camp.


Day 7: Everest Base Camp – Shigatse (350 km / 8 hrs)

Wake up early to witness sunrise over Mount Everest, a truly unforgettable sight. After breakfast, begin your return journey to Shigatse, retracing your route through high mountain passes and vast Tibetan landscapes. Enjoy scenic views of snow-capped peaks, valleys, and remote villages along the way. Arrive in Shigatse by evening and check in at your hotel. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.


Day 8: Shigatse – Lhasa (280 km / 5 hrs)

After breakfast, drive back to Lhasa along the scenic Friendship Highway or via the Yarlung Tsangpo River valley. The journey offers changing landscapes from rugged mountains to greener valleys. Upon arrival in Lhasa, check in at your hotel. Spend the evening exploring Barkhor Street, shopping for souvenirs, or enjoying Tibetan cuisine. This is a great opportunity to revisit your favorite spots. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel.


Day 9: Departure from Lhasa

After breakfast, transfer to Lhasa Gonggar Airport for your onward flight. Depending on your schedule, enjoy a relaxed morning before departure. Your journey concludes with unforgettable memories of Tibet’s spiritual heritage, dramatic landscapes, and the majestic Everest Base Camp experience.
